Health Carousel Earns Joint Commission Recertification

Posted

CINCINNATI, OH (August 8, 2014) – Health Carousel is proud to announce that the Joint Commission has awarded them with the recertification of their Gold Seal Of Approval™ for healthcare staffing services. The Gold Seal honors companies that fully comply with the Joint Commission’s national set of consensus-based quality standards, as well as those companies who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in providing healthcare staffing.

Healthcare staffing companies have been providing qualified professionals to help healthcare organizations to ensure staffing to meet patient care needs resulting from regional worker shortages, census fluctuations, seasonal demand surges, as well as project work such as electronic medical record system implementations, and new nursing unit openings. The growing and aging U.S. population and the expansion of healthcare through the Affordable Care Act are combining with retirements of baby boomer healthcare professionals to create shortages and maldistributions of nurses and rehabilitation therapy professionals across the U.S. Staffing companies provide a valuable service to help healthcare organizations address these workforce challenges. In October 2004, the Joint Commission launched its certification program in October 2004 with the rapid growth of the healthcare staffing industry in mind, thereby providing a comprehensive and independent evaluation of these staffing firms, as well as their services, to client healthcare organizations.

Health Carousel recently hosted an unannounced, on-site review from the Joint Commission, who arrived to evaluate the company’s compliance with existing organization and quality management standards. These standards paint a picture of the qualifications and competency of the company’s staff, as well as the procedures involving the recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals. The Joint Commission also evaluated Onward Healthcare’s emergency management procedures, their policies regarding privacy and confidential information, and how the company supports their healthcare clients by maintaining a comprehensive quality management process. The Joint Commission’s certification program offers an independent, comprehensive evaluation of a staffing firm’s ability to provide competent staffing services.

“The external review conducted by the Joint Commission is a powerful validation of our ongoing commitment to providing quality services to our client’s and the thousands of healthcare professionals nationwide with whom we work every day,” stated Bill DeVille, CEO and founder of Health Carousel. “The Gold Seal is a reflection of the work we do to uphold the highest standards of patient care and service excellence in our industry.

“Health care organizations that contract with Health Carousel can look to Joint Commission certification as an assurance that Health Carousel demonstrates a commitment to providing and continuously improving quality services,” says Michele Sacco, M.S., executive director, Health Care Staffing Services Certification, The Joint Commission.
