"Keep your dreams in mind so you never forget why you started." - Nurse Frances Isabela

September 2, 2021

I thought about giving up, but I am so thankful to my Advisor, Manyles, for constantly keeping in contact with me and encouraging me to keep going.I joined Health Carousel sometime in late 2018, and it has been a long journey to get to where I am today.I was first introduced to the program by a friend, and I thought to myself, Why not? I was a fresh graduate and I wanted to work on furthering my career as soon as possible. I didnt realize at the time that I would have a lot of ups and downs. It wasnt anything with the program itself, but rather my own personal difficulty with balancing my studies and work. I tried to focus on my review, but so many things were happening at my workplace and personal life and I couldnt find the time to pick up on my modules and read. I thought about giving up, but I am so thankful to my Advisor, Manyles, for constantly keeping in contact with me and encouraging me to keep going. When I thought I could finally focus, the pandemic came up and I became even busier. But my advisor still did not give up on me. She would listen to me and she was fully understanding of whatever situation I was in at the time. She gave me several calls and advice, and finally, by March of 2021, I was scheduled to take my exam on the 23rd of May.With the impending date looming over me, I reviewed and reviewed and tried to answer as many questions as I could. It was nerve-wracking, but I finally made it. Two days after my exam, I got a call from Manyles telling me Ive passed my exam. Honestly, I couldnt wrap my head around it. I couldnt believe that I finally did it.I am forever grateful to the Health Carousel's ASPIRE program for never giving up on me, even when I was so close to giving up on myself.A Message To My Fellow NursesTo all aspiring NCLEX takers and USRNs, my advice to you is to try to find a balance between your work (if you are working) and your studies, but give yourself a break every once in a while, to relax as well so you dont get burnt out. Always keep your dreams in mind so you never forget why you started in the first place, and let it drive you to get to where you want to be in life.Health Carousel Philippines, Inc. assists nurses through two unique programs, Aspire and Achieve.
