The first recipient of the DAISY Award for extraordinary nursing students in Western Visayas for the year 2023 has been chosen by the DAISY Award Committee of Health Carousel Philippines Inc. (HCPI). An awardee was chosen from among the five nominees using the standards established by the committee.

The DAISY Awardee was honored during the Recognition Day of the College of Nursing of West Visayas State University at Iloilo City. The awardee, Iverson J.  Ferrer, was surprised and speechless when his name was called. He is an incoming senior nursing student from the premier university of Western Visayas. Iverson said, “For those student nurses who also aspire to receive a DAISY Award, my advice is to never lose the fire inside you. Never stop learning and achieving greater heights because, through this, we can be the nurses that we always dream to be.”

The President of the University, Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz, attended the recognition together with hundreds of parents and guests. “Undoubtedly, the College of Nursing of this university is the best nursing school in the Philippines. Be the change. Be the catalyst. You hold the pen to write the future of others. Be bold and relevant. Also, allow me to acknowledge Health Carousel Philippines, DAISY Foundation, and Health Carousel, LLC for this first-ever prestigious and International DAISY Award in the West Visayas State University,” Villaruz said.

The DAISY Coordinators of Health Carousel Philippines, Ms. Nyra Colinares and Ms. Consorcia Dela Cruz attended the recognition ceremony and presented the DAISY Awards. “The DAISY Award not only recognizes exemplary nursing students but also promotes excellence in nursing. I congratulate the DAISY Awardee, Iverson, and the College of Nursing of this premiere university,” said Dela Cruz, Co-Founder and Chairman of Health Carousel Philippines.

The awarding was attended by the nursing students represented by 1st year to 4th year, leaders of hospitals and the university and Faculty of the College of Nursing, DAISY coordinators of Health Carousel Philippines, and parents of graduating nursing students.
